CEDRUS ATLANTICA BARK OIL

Cedarwood — sweet, woody and balsamic

Evidence

Beneficial for alleviating occasional insomnia: SOURCE

Intention

Cedarwood Atlas essential oil was chosen in Evening Body Serum and Evening Aromatherapy Candle because when life is chaotic, its scent helps remind you to remain calm from the world around you.

Scent Note

Cedarwood atlantica is a Middle Base note with an aromatic profile described as woody, balsamic, and warm. It beautifully complements the bergamot, jasmine, and ylang ylang essential oils found in our serum and candle.

Evening Ritual Inspiration

One of the best ways to face challenging situations is through meditation. After applying our serum, consider lighting a candle and meditation, if only for a few moments, as part of your evening routine to help ground you as you prepare yourself for bed.

Background

Cedarwood Atlas essential oil belongs to the Abietaceae (or Pinaceae) family of plants. Historically, Ancient Egyptians used the oil from cedar trees (cedarwood) for spiritual embalming purposes. Modern-day, traditional hope chests are constructed with cedar because they give the items inside a pleasant aroma and protect fabrics.

Extraction Method

Cedarwood Atlas is steam distilled from the wood, stumps, or sawdust.

CINNAMOMUM CAMPHORA LINALOOLIFERAWOOD OIL

Ho Wood — soft, woody & comforting

Evidence

Intention

We intentionally chose ho wood essential oil in Evening Body Serum and Evening Aromatherapy Candle because aromatically, it is beautiful. It reminds us to see the beauty in stillness, peace, and tranquility when life gets crazy.

Scent Note

Ho Wood is a Top Middle note (along with bergamot and yuzu) and has an aromatic profile that is both gently woody and floral. It complements well the bergamot, cedarwood, and ylang ylang essential oils found in our serum and candle.

Evening Ritual Inspiration

When you use our serum, it’s your time to relax and unwind. Indulge in a glass of wine once in a while, but remember to hydrate yourself well before retiring to bed to allow for a peaceful night's sleep.

Background

Ho Wood is grown in Asia and comes from the Lauraceae family of plants, the same plant family that brings us cinnamon, laurel leaf, ravensara, ravintsara, and rosewood.

Extraction Method

Ho Wood is steam distilled from the wood, bark, or twigs of the Cinnamomum camphor tree.

BURSERA GRAVEOLENS (PALO SANTO) WOOD OIL

Palo Santo — creamy, woody & slighty spicy

Evidence

Used for relaxation and a de-stressor: SOURCE

Intention

We intentionally chose Palo Santo as one of eight essential oils found in Evening Body Serum and Evening Aromatherapy Candle because of its symbolism. It is a mindful offering to help you switch gears from your day's business. Its soft, sweet, and uplifting aroma will remind you to slow you down, unwind, and relax as you prepare for bed.

Scent Note

Palo Santo brings depth and stability as a Middle Base note and beautifully complements the Bergamot, Cedarwood, and Cardamom essential oils found in Evening Body Serum and Evening Aromatherapy Candle. Its aromatic profile consists of a creamy, woody nature, layered with soft, slightly spicy, and citrusy nuances.

Evening Ritual Inspiration

As you use Evening Body Serum, allow yourself to dissolve any opposing thoughts or experiences encountered throughout your day. Consider mindfulness by practicing meditation before turning in, as it will help to still your mind supporting further tranquility and peacefulness for a restful night's sleep.

Background

The Palo Santo tree (Bursera graveolens) is a wild tree native from the Yucatán Peninsula to Peru and Venezuela. Thought to have unique spiritual qualities, its sacred smoke clears a space's aura from negativity to promote a calm and peaceful atmosphere. Palo Santo comes from the Burseraceae plant family, the same plant family that also produces frankincense, myrrh, and lesser-known elemi.

Extraction Method

The essential oil from palo santo is steam distilled from the wood.
