Citrusy

CITRUS AURANTIUM BERGAMIA FRUIT OIL

Bergamot — citrusy, bright & pleasing

Evidence

Useful for relieving anxiety and stress: SOURCE

Intention

We intentionally chose bergamot essential oil in Evening Body Serum and Evening Aromatherapy Candle because of its uplifting and pleasant scent, the exact opposite of when there's anxiety around something unpleasant.

Scent Note

Bergamot is a Top Middle note (along with ho wood and yuzu) and complements the jasmine, ylang ylang, and yuzu essential oils found in our serum and candle. Bergamot's scent can help reduce feelings of stress or frustration and is deeply relaxing, refreshing, and calming—its aromatic profile is lightly citrusy, lightly floral, and slightly spicy.

Evening Ritual Inspiration

At night it's crucial not to overstimulate your mind to find your center of calm to be your best the next day. Try ending your evening peacefully by reading a book and lighting your candle while enjoying a cup of decaffeinated herbal tea.

Background

A fruit with its origins in Asia, today, bergamot is named after the Italian city of Bergamo and is widely grown in Italy's southern part. The fruit itself is not generally eaten nor enjoyed; however, its other components are — its zest, juice, and essential oil. Bergamot is from the Rutaceae plant family, like other citrus fruits like grapefruit, oranges, lemons, and limes. If you like Earl Grey black tea, you'll recognize bergamot from its distinctive and fragrant aroma.

Extraction Method

Bergamot essential oil is cold-pressed from the rind of the bergamot fruit.

CITRUS JUNOS

Yuzu — bright, aromatic and citrusy

Evidence

Helps to alleviate negative emotional stress: SOURCE

Intention

We intentionally chose yuzu as one of eight essential oils found in our Evening Body Serum and Evening Aromatherapy Candle because of its bright scent. The aromatic contrast is needed and welcomed, especially when you’ve had a long stressful day and feel burnt out.

Scent Note

Yuzu, a Top Middle note (along with bergamot and ho wood), has an aromatic profile that is very aromatic and has a bright, refreshing, citrusy scent. It dances with the bergamot, cardamom, jasmine, and ylang ylang essential oils found in our Evening Body Serum and Evening Aromatherapy Candle.

Evening Ritual Inspiration

Experience a solstice, any day of the week. Draw a warm bath and massage Evening Body Serum into your skin before bathing to reduce transepidermal water moisture loss. Light our Evening Aromatherapy Candle, take a deep breath and enjoy a luxurious moment.

Background

Yuzu, pronounced yoo-zoo, is a citrus plant and fruit of East Asian origin belonging to the same plant family as other citrus fruits like grapefruit, oranges, lemons, and limes - Rutaceae. A hot yuzu bath — known as a yuzuyu (citrus bath) — is taken during Tōji, the winter solstice, to warm the body and relax the mind, in a Japanese tradition that dates back to the 18th century.

Extraction Method

Yuzu essential oil is cold-pressed from the fruit peel of the Citrus Junos tree.
